Project Overview
Having so many smart devices and making everything secure can be a challenge. First you must search what each mobile app needs from your network and how can you keep the house safe.
The Challenge
Networking was no problem. Wireless was a little bit hard because the Solar Power Smart Device was acting as a Acces Point and was using the same channel as the other access points.
The Approach & Solution
Setting the 2 Access Points according to best practices was part of the solution. Troubleshooting the AP function from the Solar Power Smart Device was quite hard as aI had no documentation available from the seller. All the work was done by me using online research. The other strange thing was the heating and ventilation (not A/C) unit who was not connecting to the internet. First problem was the cable, solved fast and easy. The second one was a lot bigger as the installer did not understood that he need to follow 3 steps to setup the device. He keept jumping over step one and the telling me that is not working because it was a network problem.
Most problems were solved pretty fast the longest one was the wireless one were the Solar Power Smart Device became a Access Point. He used the LAN (cable)port as WAN and his Wi-Fi as Access Point.
The Results
After all the project came out as the owner wished. All the problems and all the hard work were forgoten when we saw the finall result. KNX lights, Ubiquiti networking, Hoval Heating, Daikin A/C and many more devices.
